Media Relations

In democracy the media plays a significant role and acts as a facilitator to bridge the gap between the Government and people in the aspect of communication of Government policies and programs. Media relations wing of I&PR Department maintains cordial relations with the fourth estate and utilize the media to highlight the developmental activities of the Government and also effective coverage of all the Government programs.

It also elicits feedback from people, conveys it to Government so as to enable the Government to take up corrective steps in tune with the feelings of the people.

To ensure wide coverage of the Government policies and programs, Press conferences and Press tours are conducted to showcase the implementation process of development and welfare schemes. The Publicity cell of I&PR Department functions from Secretariat throughout the year to cater to the needs of the media. FAX and Internet facilities are provided in the publicity cell for timely transmission of important press matter and photos to the media and also to field offices and vice-versa.
